Teen Birthrates Rose in 2006

The teen birthrate rose in 2006 for the first time in fourteen years, according to a new report from the Centers for Disease Control. “It’s too soon to say if the increased birth rate among teens is a trend,” Stephanie Ventura, head of the CDC’s Reproductive Statistics Branch, told U.S. News & World Report. “It could be just a one-year blip, or the start of a turning point.”

Or maybe it’s a really clever publicity stunt orchestrated by the makers of the teen-pregnancy comedy Juno, which opened today.
